I still remember the first time that we met.  You saw me racing someone in my neighborhood, and you said that there was this guy named Don Edwards, that would easily "Bust My Heart", as we used to say back then.

I was at Auburndale Jr. High, and he went to Westwood Jr. High.  I still remember you at that track meet, and you pointed out Don to me.  He was a big guy, and was somewhat intimidating, as he was coming out of the blocks.

You were right, because he did beat me that day, but thanks to you, Don and myself became great friends.

You are missed.

Earl Wright~my hero in school and in life!!!!!!! You and Archie Brown were the two fastest boys in Polk County when we were in Central Elementary and boy, having you guys on our team always meant we'd WIN...no matter the sport we played!!!!!! It's been a journey growing up to be an adult and understanding the depths of what truly happened to you when were still "kids". I wish you could have been here to see all the accomplishments that so many of our classmates have made. I wish you could have been the SUPERSTAR football player or Olympic TRACK STAR you were certainly headed to be. But, I don't think GOD could have asked for a better ANGEL at the time he received you and for that I am happy. That means, one day we will all get to see you again and you'll be the same 'ole Earl we knew and loved all our lives. Until then, keep the BLOODHOUND SPIRIT alive and keep on guarding us from above. We appreciate it always. Love and Light forever~your friend, Miss Paula Edwards

I remember your intelligence in class and your intelligence in sports. I remember the times we went on double dates in my Mom's 1978 FORD LTD, which I let you drive. Just glad Ms. Alice didn't know, but we had a lot of fun, sitting low in the car, styling, smiling, profiling, skinning, grinning, laying and playing, with the am radio playing r&b, and soft rock. I remember our 3rd grade class, during our first entry into integration, and our Chinese teacher had the class stand up, and congratulate us on our math test, because we made our first A's, when you made a 100, and I made a 96. I remember playing little league baseball together on our team, called Eagle Block, and we had Coach Miller, who was also our local insurance man. I remember the Saturday, as if it was today, when we both were living in Inwood. We were walking down the street talking about music, and you asked me, had I ever heard of the group, called MAZE. I guess I didn't hear you correctly, and thought you were talking about a maze you walk through, and you said Man, you got to hear these brothers. We walk to your house, and the first cut you played, was LOOK AT CALIFORNIA. Just so you know, I forgot, you do know, because you're looking down from HEAVEN, I still play LOOK AT CALIFORNIA, with tears rolling down my eyes, in your honor. I will always love you and miss you, as the brother I never had. Sometimes I can feel your spirit, which makes me smile. Thanks for the years we had, MR. EARL TERRENCE WRIGHT!

James Shiver, it just doesn't seem like you've been gone for as long as you have. I can remember the day my sister called me in Atlanta crying with the news of your passing. I was devastated as was so many others. You were such a beautiful soul. Sweet, kind, handsome and a true gentleman. No wonder everyone considered you their friend. We are going to miss you at this celebration of 40 years out of AHS, but if I know you~you'll be there on someone's shoulder watching and being a part of the fun. See you again one day. Here's another hard memory to write. We were great friends for as long as I can remember. The fun you, Rebecca Stanley, Ellie Reynolds, Pam Grimes, oh gosh too many names to list and I had for soooooo many years makes this sad to say. I MISS YOU and your incredible one of a kind quirky self. You made zany and off the wall totally a COOL CONCEPT. You went up when the rest of the world went down. You walked backwards when the sign said "walk forwards". You were always living LIFE to the beat of your own drum and I loved you for that. I think being friends with you taught me the beauty and value of every thing that glitters is not gold and that some people can keep you fooled by their outward appearances but you were always showing the world your TRUE COLORS and I admired you for that.

I will always remember you track skills, when you ran the 880 yard dash, and those awesome dance skills during our pep rallies, along with your brother Herbert, and Andrew Williams, electrifying the crowd doing the robot.

We were raised in that small subdivision, called the Hill.  We had some great times in that neighborhood, even though our parents struggled financially.  I think that our racing on Lincoln Court, gave us the skills to compete during track season.  Just think, we ran bare footed on that hot pavement.

You were a quiet person, but those who knew you very well, knew not to upset you.

You will be missed.

One of the most fiestiest ladies that I ever knew.  I will always remember growing up on the Hill, going to Bridgers Elementary, and integrating Central Elementary.

You were small in stature, but very powerful with your voice, and even more powerful with your words.  Your favorite saying was always, "I AIN'T SCARED OF YOU"

I remember you and Constance Wilson, out running me a couple of times at Central Elementary, which really deflated my ego, but it was all good, because that made me try harder the next time.

You are missed.
